The Ft. Washington Swim &
Tennis Club, aka "The Fort," is a private outdoor club located 15 miles NNE of
Philadelphia in Upper Dublin Township. Built in 1960 and remodeled in 1992 and again
in 2005, "The
Fort" offers its members an unsurpassed combination of tennis and swim opportunities
for the entire family. "The Fort's" tennis and swim instruction is renowned
throughout the area as "The Best!" The management prides itself on the
cleanliness and safety of its facility and its diversification of programs for all age
groups.
"The Fort" is on the cutting edge of technology. It is the first commercial pool in
the state of Pennsylvania to convert to SALT WATER. No more "bad hair days," faded bathing suits, chlorine smell,
burning eyes - just the most relaxing swimming experience EVER! Over 180 children, ages 5-18, participate on our swim and diving team.
Everyone is invited to participate and our expert coaching staff makes sure that everyone
who wishes to participate on our team has the opportunity to do so. We even have an
excellent combination program with our tennis coaches called "shark tennis" that
fills the children's time between practice and the opening of the pool to the membership.
Group and/or private swim lessons are available from Memorial Day through Labor Day. The pool
is open to the members noon until 8pm, weekends only from Memorial Day until school is out
and then 7 days a week through Labor day.
Our tennis program is the largest in the
area. We host 17 Men's & Women's USA Adult League teams ranging from 2.5 to 4.5 NTRP levels,
and 3
Philadelphia Women's Interclub teams during the spring season.
The USA teams are open to members and non-members alike. The Women's Interclub teams are for members
only.
During the summer, Women's Round
Robins a Women's 4.0 Senior USA League and Men's 5.0 Adult League team is available to both
members and non-members. Additionally, we have numerous junior and
adult programs and lesson packages offered 7 days a week by the best USPTA certified pros
in the area. During the fall, we offer a Women's Program. The courts (6) are
open sunrise to sunset daily from April 1 - October 31, unlimited play (no court fees).

INITIATION FEES
"The Fort" is constantly upgrading the facility and trying to provide the finest in programs
and services. In 2005 the club undertook a massive project by having our 45 year old
pools totally restored along with all the coping and cement deck work around both the main and
baby pools. In addition an all new children's play and activity area were installed, all the
tennis courts were resurfaced and new lounge chairs were purchased for our member's comfort.
Past projects included building a new club house, new picnic tables,
replacing the windows and doors in the snack bar, replacing the one meter diving stands and boards,
purchasing and installing new diving blocks for the swim team, tiling the locker room showers,
replacing our filter motor, installing new appliances in the snack bar, installing new non-slip
flooring in the locker rooms, tree work, replacing sections of stockade fencing, a new permanent awning structure
for the baby pool as well as new vinyl fencing and many other smaller improvements.
This year new wind screens were installed on the tennis courts and the pool and deck were refinished.
We use 100% of the initiation fee toward capital improvement projects. This, along with
annual dues, distributes the economic burden equally among our members and instills pride in our
fine facility. You only pay this initiation fee once, unless you do not join the club for
THREE consecutive years. If you have not joined for three consecutive years you will
be obligated to pay the initiation fee current at the time of re-joining. The initiation fee
is non-refundable AFTER April 1 of the calendar year you are joining.
