FT. WASHINGTON WOMEN'S INTERCLUB
CHALLENGE RULES

NOTE: Challenges between teams require the BEST TWO OUT OF THREE MATCHES. An 8 game pro set (first team to 8 games/win by two/no tiebreak) is played for each match.

Position challenges within a team are determined by ONE MATCH. This match is the best two out of three tie-break sets.

YOU MUST INFORM THE CLUB (215) 646-8574 OF ALL CHALLENGES AND RESULTS IMMEDIATELY!

1. To challenge between teams you MUST be at the top of your current team ladder, i.e. 1st singles or 1st doubles unless vacancies exist in the team above you. Example: Cup 7 is short a doubles team for 5th position. The #1 doubles team of Cup A may automatically move into that position if they so desire. If all positions are filled on Cup 7, the #1 team from Cup A may challenge the #5 team of Cup 7 following the challenge requirements stated above. If you were on a team last year and you have LOST your partner for this year, you have until March 1st to get a new partner in order to hold the position you had the previous year. If you DON'T get a new partner you may either elect to play singles or go on the sub list. Challenges between teams MUST be made and COMPLETED prior to April 1.

2. Brand new teams coming to play at THE FORT are entitled to one WILD CARD challenge (best two out of three tie break sets). This new team may choose any team they wish to challenge. If they beat the team they challenge, they take their position and the losing team moves down one position. If the challenging team loses, they go to the BOTTOM of the ladder. Choose your opponents wisely! ALL "new team" challenges MUST be made and COMPLETED prior to April 1.

3. If you are on a team and wish to challenge up WITHIN the same team, you may challenge one or two positions up at a time (best two out of three tie-break sets).

4. All challenges within a team MUST be completed by April 18th. Challenges during the indoor season are allowed, BUT all players MUST agree to playing indoors and splitting the cost. The courts at THE FORT will be available for play in MARCH by appointment through the pro shop and then open all the time beginning APRIL 1st.

5. Once you have CHALLENGED a team you must wait THREE DAYS after completion of the challenge to challenge again. If you are challenged during that three day period of time YOU MUST accept. Due to limited challenge time all challenges must be played withing a 7 day period.

6. Please DO NOT challenge needlessly as this ties up the ladder.

7. Disputes over challenges (i.e. cancellations by one party and no progress on rescheduling) will be ruled on by Drew Sunderlin, USPTA Master Pro and owner of Ft. Washington Swim & Tennis club. His decisions are FINAL.
